DSM kalender
DSM-calendar, 1955 - 1998
The DSM-calendar, a logical concept for many people in the South of Limburg. The calendar started out as a promotional gift and became very popular. The tangible and attractive design evolved rapidly to a 'must have' item.
Every year had a different theme, with subjects based on historical background of Limburg. Very often from a geographic, artistic or economic point of view. 'Barriere once a frontier (1991), Wild Splendour (1980), 'South of Limburg in birds-eye view (1979)', 'Open the Gate (1976) en 'Bridging' (1993). Specialists were invited to produce the scientific context. Many well known photographers of these parts of Limburg were assigned to produce photo's for the DSM calendar. The calendar was last produced in 1998.
The exhibition shows all annual calendars, original photo's and reproductions of 12 months of 12 calendars. Friday 27th September, 17:00 hours at RHCL, one of the DSM calendar photographers, Jos Nelissen, will do a mini tour with us through the exhibition and tells us about his experience.
