David Peskens
Kerkrade, 1985
David Peskens (1985) Kerkade. To him photography is like exploring, driven by a great curiosity for life itself. He became known by his photography on nature themes. For this he won the Hasselblad Masters Award. Currently his interest is shifting to social themes. Especially the parts of Eastern Europa are a major source of inspiration to David.
A road trip, by camper was the kick off of a new project on Eastern Europe. David and his girlfriend Anna, originally from Latvia, travelled 20.000 kilometres along the external borders of the former Soviet Union and Yugoslavia. To not only visit and photograph original scenes, but also to learn about the history of these parts and talk with the residents about their personal experiences. During Maastricht Photo Festival you can visit David in his camper, to see his photo’s and listen to his stories.
