Lieven Geuns
Bree (BE), 1987
Lieven Geuns studied bodywork and photography. Since 2012 he works in a production house as a cameraman and he is a freelance photographer for various magazines and agencies. In addition to commercial, he also makes documentary work with a preference for strange human twists. His style often becomes very aesthetic and his love for graphic design is strongly reflected in his visual language. His personal work is rarely about fleeting registration or documenting a reality. The medium becomes more conceptual and sometimes ironically approached.
“Godspeed”, 2016 – 2018
Lieven Geuns has been traveling back and forth for 3 consecutive years trying to document the capital of land speed racing. Each year Bonneville, U.S.A is visited by devoted speed-seekers from all over the world. They visit the surrounding Salt Flats with the sole purpose of competing for the title of fastest man on land. Due to the event getting rained out each year upon arrival, he was stranded in this city. It was only then he intuitively started to capture the daily life of this ambiguous mid-western town.
